The legislation relevant to this case study is Children (Scotland) Act 1995, which, in Section 1, states that a parent has the responsibility to safeguard and get along the childs health, development and welfare and to provide direction and guidance to the child. Furthermore, the United Nations produced approach pattern on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which the United Kingdom ratified on 16 December 1991. In article 18.1 of this convention, it states that parents have the primary election responsibility for the upbringing and development of the child and the best interests of the child will be their basic concern.





In the Children (Scotland) Act 1995 sectionalization 22, it states that it is the local authoritys duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are in need in their area, and so far as is consistent with that duty, promote the upbringing of such children by their families by providing a range and level of go appropriate to the childrens needs.
